PARTNER UPDATES

May 2025/Volume 5
Isaiah 41:10, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Dear Partners and Friends,

Our friend Nelson arrived safely home after being part of the delivery of much needed supplies to our Haitian friends. He also assisted in the delivery of much needed medical supplies to our nurse, Keshna. More updates are coming soon but we wanted to highlight the information we have regarding Sorbonne Christian Academy and our students & staff.

As of earlier this week, we have a total of 166 students attending school. These students have families that have returned home but are also choosing to stay with their children during the school day to help secure their safety. The gangs are currently staying in downtown Mirebalais and are not occupying the area our school is in. A shipment of food arrived when the school initially closed so those provisions are being used to feed the students and their families. We are working with those on the ground to secure future food supplies. The conditions of the roads and the rainy season have made many roads impassable. This issue is in addition to the gangs taking over many routes used to bring in food and supplies.

Our partner here is working closely with the teachers and staff to make sure they have all the resources we can provide with the most current urgent need being mosquito nets and blankets.

We will be working with Mission Flights International again to ship more supplies as soon as possible.

Haiti Crisis Fund

More highlights of the recent mission to Haiti:

  • Our nurse Keshna received many of her requested items including a pulse ox monitor, blood pressure cuff, head thermometer, bandages, wound care supplies and basic medicine. We are working on securing suture kits to send with the next shipment.
  • The mobile medical clinic had to be postponed due to logistic issues and horrible road conditions. Volunteers are ready to make it happen as soon as it is possible!
  • With the very generous donations to the Haiti crisis fund, over 20 families received family size tents. Many families were moved to tears when they realized they would no longer be without shelter.
  • Food staples were purchased along with hygiene items and made into family kits. Over 500 kits were distributed in two communities. We have no way of knowing how many of our displaced families received these kits but we are confident it was many.
  • In regards to our school, summer break is approaching. The current students attending will finish the school year testing (per Haiti’s educational standards) out of the current year to graduate to the next. Our staff and teachers are working so hard to make the school feel as safe and secure as possible but we must cover them in prayer. The future is uncertain but we trust that God is in control and His will be done. We will continue to support our staff throughout the summer months and work closely with our school’s leadership to prepare for fall. We must keep moving forward and continue the work God has so abundantly blessed.

Prayer Points:
